Peter Pan- The Final Chapter

Hard as it is to believe, our amazing 'Peter Pan' project has come to an end! Our chameleons all outdid themselves at their performance on Saturday; a truly magical way to end an incredible term with the group!

It seems crazy to think that it's been fourteen weeks since the project launched back in September. As previously mentioned, Peter Pan was a show that we had wanted to explore with the Chameleon group for a long time and the opportunity just never seemed right. Last August that changed and we finally agreed that it was time to give the title a go and we're so glad that we did!

The cast have all worked tremendously hard this term. Peter Pan is, without a doubt, the biggest show that we have attempted. With thirteen scenes in total, plus four different physical sequences (plus some fight choreography) there was a lot to juggle and even more for the group to remember. The cast never complained once and always met each and every challenge with open arms. Each week they came back ready for more and eager to work on and continue developing the show.

Perhaps the nicest thing about the term was watching the cast bond as a group. In addition to being the biggest show we have done, Peter Pan was also the longest term we've ever run. This meant that there was time for the group, old and new members alike, to find the balance required to work together as a cast. They were fantastic at supporting one another while also encouraging each other to push themselves further and further, bringing ideas to the table at each rehearsal.

This also marked the first time that we had performed at the Cygnet theatre. The venue was magnificent and the staff friendly and supportive of our efforts. We were well looked after and the stage made for a fantastic space to perform the show. The cast did very well having not seen the stage before performance day; it didn't phase them one bit. In fact if anything they were more excited. We look forward to visiting and working with the Cygnet in the future.

At this point there isn't much else to say apart from thanks. Thanks to everyone who came and supported us and the kids on Saturday. The support and kindness people have shown us means more than the world and Neverland combine. A few honourable mentions go out to Jon Primrose at the University of Exeter's Drama department for continuing to support us and coming in each week at the weekend so that we could have a place to rehearse, and to Emma, for helping us behind the scenes throughout the term (as always) and on performance day. Finally a massive thanks to the cast; they were wonderful and inspire us to keep the group going and create more exciting work. We have begun plotting for next term; where the group will be undertaking 'The Three Musketeers!' It's bound to be an exciting term. Until then; merry Christmas and we will see you all in the new year! As always, one final time for the term, please enjoy some snaps from the performance (to those who though the business of performance day would stand in the way of my excessive photography...guess again).

Jake and Ben.
